About our Company:

Universal DX, Inc. is an international Company with a highly experienced team focused on cracking cancer’s code. Through our multi-omics and bioinformatics models, we have figured out how to read the disease’s signals in blood with high accuracy to detect cancer in its earliest stages. Starting with a colorectal cancer screening liquid biopsy test, we are building a multi-cancer platform that can identify the unique DNA regions associated with different types of cancers.

The Opportunity:

Universal DX is seeking an experienced Scientist II to join our Development laboratory in the Dallas-Fort Worth, TX area as part of the Product Development team working on the development and commercialization of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) products for early cancer detection. Reporting to the Director of Pre-Analytical Development, this role will be instrumental in the planning, design, and execution of development and analytical validation studies to characterize the impact of pre-analytical variables on Universal DX’s screening test for colorectal cancer.

You will be part of a team that is passionate about developing novel diagnostic tests for the early detection of cancer. How you’ll contribute:

Product Development:

  • Plan and execute studies to establish sample stability and to evaluate the performance of blood collection kits and devices for use Universal Dx’s liquid biopsy tests.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions to enhance efficiency and reproducibility.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders, including Automation, R&D, PMO, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs teams to meet project milestones.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Operations team to ensure samples are collected per study designs.
  • Collaborate with external contract labs for sample processing in accordance with study designs.
  • Contribute to cross-functional meetings, presenting progress and technical insights.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Draft and review technical documents, including protocols, reports, and work instructions.
  • Ensure thorough and accurate record-keeping using LIMS/electronic lab notebooks to support regulatory submissions and audits.
  • Maintain adherence to quality management systems (QMS) and ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines.

Mentorship and Leadership:

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to research associates and other team members.

What you will bring:

  • D. or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genetics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in molecular diagnostics, including NGS and liquid biopsy technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform complex workflows with high attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques including nucleic acid extraction and quantitation, NGS library preparation, and sequencing workflows.
  • Experience in biological sample handling and manipulation techniques such as centrifugation, fractionation, sample blending, and serial dilution.
  • Proven ability to plan, execute, and comprehensively document experiments/studies.
  • Ability to analyze complex data sets, interpret results, and communicate findings effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environment with ability to adapt to shifting priorities.
