We are seeking a Healthcare Construction Superintendent to join our team! Position requires extensive experience in the structural aspects of construction and coordinating subcontractors, review of submittal information and shop drawings, issuing and coordinating RFI documents to the Architect, and coordinating with the Inspector of Record. Position interacts with the Construction Manager, Project Architect, and the Owner’s representative. Familiarity with OSHPD/HCAI processes and procedures, hospital facility operation, and the coordination and care necessary to complete construction projects within a functioning hospital with special attention to infection control procedures. Healthcare Design & Construction LLC has been providing construction services to the healthcare market for more than a decade. The HDC team has worked together prior to the formation of HDC and brings a century of combined experience. Projects can include minor remodels for imaging equipment, procedure rooms, patient care areas; major remodels of patient floors, surgical suites, imaging suites, emergency rooms; seismic retrofit; emergency generators and mechanical equipment; and medical office buildings. Someone who desires to deliver a quality project to meet the needs of the user with attention to detail and budget constraints by implementing proper planning, cost saving measures, and appropriate use of organizational resources.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee all aspects of construction project from bid to implementation
- Allocate resources for assigned projects
- Supervise onsite personnel and subcontractors
- Negotiate with subcontractors to receive reasonable order costs
- Maintain high standards of workmanship that adhere to original plans and specifications
- Inspect materials and equipment delivered to the site
- Coordinate on-site inspections and laboratory testing, review tests on materials
- Prepare status reports and maintain records of inspections and tests
- Inspect subcontractor workmanship and materials
- Provide notices of utility or facility interruption to Owner’s representative
- Ability to visualize the entire project and anticipate constructability issues and embed solutions in the construction plans and schedules.
- Can visualize and create the project schedule critical path
- Can organize and perform Pull Planning scheduling team meetings.
- Interface with project inspectors, contractors, architects, engineers, state, city and/or county officials, and clients
- Attends and presents information in OAC meetings (OAC=Owner/Architect/Contractor)
- May be responsible for on the job training, overseeing and supervision of employees
- May manage on the job performance of HDC employees, including performance reviews, merit-based compensation recommendations, and disciplinary action.
- Prepare quality surveys of work in place
- Update construction schedule (Microsoft Project)
- Assure safety procedures on site, identifying specific hazards and assure all subcontractors know and follow safety procedures
- Prepare status reports and maintain records of inspections and tests
- Review shop drawings and submittals
- Assure subcontractors have received the latest construction plans and specifications
- Conduct detail inspections of construction work
- Prepare records of all equipment installed on site
- Obtain and review information for the Operation and Maintenance Manuals
- Update as-built plans
- Assure environment protection
- Maintain Interim Life Safety measures in place
- Maintain and complete Daily Construction Reports in Procore
- Issue RFI documents to the Architect in Procore
- Track Change Events in Procore
Qualifications:
- 10 plus years of management experience; healthcare or related business knowledge preferred, broad understanding of construction industry
- Knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, and construction documents (RFI’s, Submittals, Contracts, etc.)
- Familiarity with software: Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Project, Procore Platform
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively when needed.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
