TeraCyte is seeking an AI Engineer to Develop and implement AI/ML models. You will be a key contributor to the team powering our AI and analytics efforts, working alongside DevOps, and software engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement AI/ML models focused on computer vision and bioimaging, such as segmentation, tracking, registration, and phenotype classification.
• Merge into our entire data lifecycle from preprocessing, augmentation, storage formats (TIFF, RAW), and annotation pipelines to model-ready inputs.
• Collaborate with imaging software engineers, DevOps, and product to optimize data throughput, quality, and labeling accuracy.
• Design and scale training pipelines in the cloud (AzureML), supporting tens of terabytes of imaging data.
• Integrate models with our imaging pipeline and Imager UI, ensuring robust and efficient real-time inference and feedback loops.
• Perform rigorous data analysis and visualization to identify edge cases, drift, and sources of model failure.
• Guide data collection strategies to improve performance, leveraging active learning, uncertainty sampling, and synthetic data generation.
• Contribute to research and implementation of Vision Transformers, imaging models, or LLM-integrated vision models, where relevant.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in AI/ML with a focus on data-heavy pipelines (preferably imaging or microscopy data).
• Proven experience in Python, PyTorch, NumPy, Pandas, and OpenCV.
• Strong understanding of computer vision models – e.g., U-Net, YOLO, SAM, ViT.
• Experience with cloud-based ML platforms (preferably Azure ML), dataset versioning, and blob storage management.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with TIFF, multi-channel imaging, and scientific data formats.
• knowledge in cell biology or experience working with bioimaging datasets.
