Position summary
The Process Engineer develops and optimizes manufacturing processes, from early prototyping through production scale-up. He/she will work closely with the engineering team to build robust, efficient processes that meet the demands of a regulated medical device environment.
Responsabilities
Process Development
Develop and optimize manufacturing processes from early prototyping through full-scale production.
Apply DfM principles to evaluate process and design alternatives alongside the design team.
Apply new technologies and methodologies to improve process performance and efficiency.
Work with external vendors to specify and develop new process technologies and equipment.
Tooling, Fixtures & CAD Design
Design, develop, and iterate manufacturing fixtures, jigs, and assembly aids using SolidWorks.
Create detailed CAD models and drawings for custom tooling and production equipment.
Source and procure tooling components; work with machine shops and suppliers to fabricate parts.
Maintain and improve existing tooling based on production feedback and process data.
Ensure fixtures are designed for ease of use, repeatability, and operator safety.
Prototyping & Manufacturing
Build and test prototypes hands-on to support design and process iterations.
Troubleshoot process and assembly issues on the production floor.
Apply lean manufacturing and structured problem-solving (root cause analysis).
Write and maintain process documentation: work instructions, SOPs, and control plans.
Manage H&S considerations associated with new process development.
Qualification & Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Biomedical, or related field).
Prior experience in a research and development environment within the medical device, automotive, aerospace, or similar high-precision industries is an asset.
Experience in manufacturing process development, production scale-up, or a similar hands-on engineering role.
Knowledge & Skills
Experience designing tooling, fixtures, or manufacturing aids from concept through fabrication.
Strong SolidWorks proficiency — fixture design, tooling, GD&T, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
Familiarity with process engineering tools.
Bilingual in French and English. The role requires communication with suppliers internationally.
Lean manufacturing mindset with practical problem-solving skills.
Comfortable using data analysis tools to support process characterization.
Innovative and resourceful — finds practical solutions to manufacturing challenges.
Well-organized with strong planning and communication skills.
Self-driven and proactive — takes ownership of tasks from design through execution.
Comfortable with ambiguity; able to iterate quickly in a startup environment.
