Puzzle Medical Devices® Inc. is developing a percutaneous heart pump for patients with advanced heart failure. The device’s design allows for safe percutaneous implantation to support both renal and cardiac function through a 4 mm-pump implanted in the descending aorta with a 4 Fr axillary driveline, allowing full patient mobility.

Position summary

The Finishing Technician at Puzzle Medical Devices ensures that medical devices meet the highest quality standards by performing tasks such as assembly, polishing, cleaning, and inspection of finished products. This role is essential to delivering defect-free products ready for packaging and distribution. The ideal candidate is meticulous and detail-oriented, with experience in manufacturing, preferably in the medical device industry.

Responsibilities

Surface Finishing

  • Perform polishing, cleaning, and deburring of medical devices to ensure smooth, defect-free surfaces.

Inspection

  • Inspect finished products to identify any defects, inconsistencies, or deviations from specifications.

  • Use measurement tools and visual inspection techniques to ensure quality.

Assembly and Testing of Devices

  • Accurately assemble components and perform testing to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.

  • Inspect products to detect defects and maintain accurate documentation.

Documentation

  • Record and report any defects or issues encountered during the finishing process.

  • Maintain accurate records of finishing operations and inspections.

Education and experience

  • Technical training required; a college diploma (DEC) or technical certification in a related field is preferred.

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in precision manual manufacturing, ideally in medical devices, jewelry, micromechanics, or watchmaking.

  • Experience working with abrasives and polishing tools.

  • Excellent manual dexterity and fine motor skills for precision manual assembly.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

  • Experience with hand tools and measuring instruments.

Skills

  • Strong attention to detail in documentation, including accurate recording of work performed, parts used, and time tracking.

  • Comfortable in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.

  • Adaptability and ability to work effectively within a young and growing team.
