About NeuroBionics

NeuroBionics, a neurotech MIT spinoff, is developing implantable devices that interface with the human body to treat neurological conditions. Leveraging a decade of innovation, we have engineered a novel neural interface using microscale, flexible, bioelectronic fibers that seamlessly integrate with the human body. Each fiber encompasses electrical, chemical, and optical capabilities—enabling sensing and modulation of the biological environment. By making neural interfacing minimally invasive, we aim to broaden access to neuromodulation therapies and improve the lives of millions of patients.

About the Role

NeuroBionics is hiring an Operations Manager to run the day-to-day operational engine that turns build plans into manufactured medical devices. You will own manufacturing execution, manage a small team of operators and manufacturing engineers, and run the broader ops backbone: inventory discipline (MRP-light), purchasing/procurement, vendor management, and shipping/receiving.

This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in the “messy middle” between engineering intent and real-world output—someone who can install lightweight systems and a reliable execution cadence without introducing bureaucracy. You will work closely with the CEO, CTO, and technical leads, and partner with Quality to ensure disciplined, traceable execution.

Location: On-site in Cambridge/Somerville, MA (with some flexibility as needed).

What you’ll do - Duties and responsibilities

  • Run manufacturing execution: weekly build plan + daily cadence, priorities, WIP visibility, blocker removal.

  • Lead the floor team: hire/onboard/train operators & techs; set standard work and expectations.

  • Own purchasing + inventory discipline (MRP-light): POs, lead times, shortages, cycle counts, and reorder basics.

  • Manage vendors/partners: specs, SOWs, deliverables, OTIF performance, escalation, and cost control.

  • Own shipping/receiving + fulfillment basics: kitting, labeling, packing, and “order-to-ship” workflow v0.

  • Install lightweight systems: simple dashboards/rituals that reduce chaos and increase throughput predictability.

About You - Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years experience in operations/manufacturing in medtech (startup preferred) or a closely regulated hardware environment.

  • Demonstrated experience supporting at least one product from development into production (or equivalent production ramp).

  • Strong working knowledge of procurement, vendor management, and inventory control in a hardware setting.

  • Proven ability to lead hourly teams (operators/techs) with clear expectations, training, and accountability.

  • High attention to detail and disciplined execution (revisions, parts, traceability basics).

Preferred:

  • Experience in a medical device startup (or similarly resource-constrained, high-ambiguity environment).

  • Familiarity with ISO 13485 / design controls / basic quality system concepts (you don’t need to be the QE, but you must operate within the system).

  • Experience with early-stage MRP/ERP tools (or building “MRP-light” processes in spreadsheets/Notion) and translating build plans into purchasing actions.

  • Familiar with local vendor and staffing network.
