1. Responsibilities

  • Champion patient-centric logistics operations, ensuring that every international shipment supports the safety and wellbeing of patients and site staff across all clinical trials supported by Medable.
  • Lead and oversee global distribution strategy, ensuring scalable and compliant international shipping operations across all supported countries.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive global shipping and customs database, documenting country-specific import/export requirements, regulatory documentation, and shipping constraints.
  • Partner with Business Development, Devices and Logistics teams to assess new opportunities and ensure operational readiness for global device distribution.
  • Own the global import/export compliance framework, including conformity documentation, regulatory documentation, and product-level shipping requirements.
  • Oversee the preparation and review of commercial and pro forma invoices, ensuring accurate documentation related to import licenses, importers of record, and customs compliance.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in international logistics, advising internal teams and external customers on global distribution strategies and shipping plans.
  • Manage real-time monitoring of international shipments, proactively resolving customs, courier, or logistics issues to minimize disruption to clinical trials.
  • Implement systems and processes to provide transparent, real-time shipment visibility to both internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with logistics partners, brokers, and vendors, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs and performance metrics for global distribution operations and third-party logistics partners.
  • Ensure clear operational handoffs and workflows between internal teams and external vendors.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to maintain 98%+ on-time and accurate shipment performance.
  • Maintain audit readiness and ensure compliance with regulatory and operational standards.
  • Identify operational risks early and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Utilize Medable’s software systems and operational platforms to manage projects, track shipments, and support customers.
  • Oversee adherence to service level agreements (SLAs) and manage escalations with urgency and accountability.
  • Other duties as assigned.

2. Experience

  • 6+ years experience in international distribution, logistics, or supply chain operations, or a combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years experience in clinical trials, healthcare logistics, or regulated environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams or managing operational functions.
  • Experience with global shipping compliance, customs documentation, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing complex logistics programs and cross-functional projects.
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, Trabex or similar operational platforms.
  • Experience managing vendors, or logistics partners preferred.

3. Skills

  • Strong leadership and people management capabilities.
  • Strategic thinking combined with operational execution.
  • Deep understanding of global logistics and supply chain operations.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication, including with senior leadership and enterprise clients.
  • Strong project and program management skills.
  • High technical aptitude and ability to support device logistics and technology deployments.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience tracking and improving operational KPIs.

4. Education, Certifications, Licenses

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or related field
  • IATA/FIATA certification or equivalent logistics certification

5. Travel Requirements
