As an R&D Engineer (main focus on Electrochemical Testing) at INBRAIN, you will be responsible for defining and driving electrochemical activation and characterization strategies for thin films and porous electrodes within the Core Technology program.

You will be at the forefront of bringing advanced healthcare solutions to market, making a tangible difference in people´s lives worldwide.
Your profile

Main responsibilities:

  • Strategic & Technical Contribution

    • Define and design electrochemical characterization strategies aligned with R&D and product development goals.
    • Develop and optimize Design of Experiments (DOE) for activation and characterization of electrodes and end-to-end neurotechnology systems.
    • Establish, update, and improve internal protocols, methodologies, and electrochemical standards.
    • Contribute to technological roadmap discussions and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Identify opportunities to enhance electrochemical performance, process yield, device stability, and reliability.

  • Experimental Design & Execution

    • Design and implement advanced electrochemical characterization experiments to assess the impact of process and material changes.
    • Maintain autonomy in characterization activities and ensure technical rigor in experimental execution.
    • Perform hands-on laboratory work when required.
    • Ensure high-quality documentation and traceability of experimental activities.

  • Cross-functional Coordination

    • Act as a technical bridge on multidisciplinary teams.
    • Translate electrochemical findings into actionable feedback for fabrication process improvements.
    • Support alignment of electrochemical criteria with product, quality and manufacturing requirements.
    • Participate actively in technical reviews and cross-functional meetings.

  • Data Interpretation & Reporting

    • Analyze and interpret electrochemical data to extract meaningful insights.
    • Prepare clear and technically rigorous reports.
    • Present results and recommendations in internal technical and project meetings

Mandatory Qualifications and Soft skills:

  • Bachelor’s and master's degree in science or engineering-relevant areas (Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Nanotechnology,etc).
  • Solid knowledge in fundamentals of electrochemistry including kinetics and interfacial processes
  • Experience with different electrochemical techniques: cyclic voltammetry, impedance spectroscopy,etc.
  • Proven ability to define DOEs, create experimental methodologies, and establish internal technical standards.
  • Minimum 3 years of laboratory experience in electrochemistry.
  • Strong data interpretation and reporting skills.
  • High level of autonomy and self-management.
  • Strong sense of ownership and accountability.
  • Ability to operate effectively in dynamic environments.
  • Proactive mindset with continuous improvement orientation.
  • Clear and structured communication style and Collaborative team player aligned with company.

Nice to have:

  • Master in electrochemistry
  • Knowledge and experience with thin films and carbon-related materials.
  • Experience defining internal technological benchmarks, particularly electrochemical benchmarks.
  • Programming or data analysis skills (Python,Matlab).
  • Experience in the use and analysis of materials characterization techniques such as Raman Spectroscopy, XPS or XRD.
