INBRAIN harnesses the extraordinary material properties of Graphene, the world’s thinnest and nobel-prize winning material, to build high resolution neural systems. Our mission is to decode and modulate neural networks to restore people's lives.

Since this is a major mission, we needed a major partner. Our INBRAIN subsidiary INNERVIA has an ongoing 4 year collaboration with Merck KGaA to decode and modulate the Vagus nerve in high resolution and deliver therapies in areas of interest for Merck at the peripheral nervous system level.

As a Embedded Software Architect, you will be responsible for making decisions on architecture and implementation strategies and maintenance on the documentation stack per embedded delivery. The role maintains close collaboration and interaction with the system and product team and is the linking pin to the development team.

You will be at the forefront of bringing advanced healthcare solutions to market, making a tangible difference in people´s lives worldwide.
Your profile

Main Responsibilities:

  • End-responsible for making decisions on architecture and implementation strategies and guiding the team in all of that.
  • Maintains close collaboration and interaction with the systems and product teams.
  • Responsible for the delivery, correctness of the documentation stack per embedded subsystem.
  • Responsible for the quality in broadest sense, code quality, testability.
  • Ensuring compliance with IEC62304.
  • Establish software development best practices, including modular design, coding guidelines, and architectural patterns.

Mandatory Qualifications and Soft skills:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • 8+ years of experience in embedded software development, with at least a number of years in architecture/leadership roles.
  • Expert in C, with deep knowledge of low-level programming, memory management, and performance optimization.
  • Knowledge of embedded debugging techniques (JTAG/SWD, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, tracing tools).
  • Experience with real-time operating systems (RTOS), bare-metal, and Linux-based embedded systems.
  • Solid understanding of testing methodologies (unit testing, integration testing, HIL testing, automated test frameworks).
  • Demonstrated experience with IEC 62304 and development of software for regulated industries (medical, automotive, aerospace).
  • Knowledge of system-level safety and risk management (e.g., ISO 14971, FMEA, fault-tolerant design).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines for embedded development, version control (Git), and build systems.
  • Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for testing (DFT) principles.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional discussions and present architecture decisions.
  • Able to catch complex system behavior into simple drawings.

Nice to have:

  • Familiar with Python scripting
  • Experience with nightly integration testing on real devices
  • Knowledge of cyber security
