About Hypervision Surgical

Hypervision Surgical (“Hypervision”) is a spin-out from King’s College London, founded by clinicians and experts in medical imaging and artificial intelligence. Using safe light alone, our mission is to equip surgeons with real-time, AI-driven tissue intelligence to improve precision and patient safety.

We are pioneering the world’s first regulatory-cleared real-time intraoperative spectral imaging platform, combining on-chip spectral sensing with high-speed AI analytics at over 60 frames per second. Seamlessly integrating into existing surgical vision systems, our technology transforms standard cameras into intelligent, data-rich tools, revealing anatomical, physiological, and pathological information beyond human vision.

Certified for both open and minimally invasive surgery, our platform achieved UKCA certification and FDA clearance in 2025 under a newly established AI/ML product code, and was admitted into the FDA’s Safer Technology Program. With multi-centre clinical evaluations underway and strategic partnerships with world-leading technology and surgical manufactures, including imec and ZEISS Ventures, Hypervision is shaping the future of data-driven surgery.

Hypervision Surgical process all personal data in accordance with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018. For further information on how we collect, use and protect your data, please refer to our Applicant Privacy Notice.

The Role

We are seeking a senior, hands-on cloud architect to lead the design, development and delivery of our cloud connected data infrastructure. This role will shape the rollout of a cloud platform connecting Hypervision’s edge devices deployed in operating rooms with secure cloud infrastructure, enabling:

  • reliable clinical operation and maintenance of SaMD systems deployed at customer sites;
  • regulatory and information governance compliant hyperspectral imaging data capture and traceability for quality assurance;
  • cloud security, DevOps enablement, and audit-ready controls;
  • machine learning dataset generation, model improvement, new feature development, and product rollout;
  • integration with hospital and identity infrastructure.

The role requires a hands-on technical leader comfortable working across edge systems, distributed cloud infrastructure, data architecture, all within the context of regulated medical software development.

Key Responsibilities

Platform & Systems Architecture

  • Design and implement a modern end-to-end architecture connecting OR-based edge systems with cloud services, including support for delivery of over-the-air updates and remote monitoring.
  • Develop robust pipelines for data ingestion, storage, cloud processing of large imaging and device data.
  • Create downstream data interaction, visualisation, and annotation infrastructure.
  • Build systems capable of supporting high-volume imaging pipelines and ML training workflows.
  • Lead the design and implementation of secure cloud and DevOps capabilities, including zero-trust access, infrastructure as code, observability, vulnerability management, disaster recovery, and audit-ready compliance controls.

Data & ML Enablement

  • Align closely with feature development engineers to provide data access APIs and infrastructure enabling:
    • ML dataset creation and annotation;
    • Training and evaluation pipelines;
    • Experiment tracking and model deployment.
  • Ensure robust data provenance, traceability, and integrity to support regulated ISO 13485, IEC 62304, and 21 CFR development processes and compliance with the EU AI Act.

Clinical & Hospital Integration

  • Architect integrations with hospital IT systems, including:
    • PACS and DICOM workflows for imaging data;
    • hospital identity and authentication (e.g. SAML/SSO);
    • secure clinical network environments.
  • Enable seamless transfer and processing of large volume medical imaging data from hospital systems to Hypervision’s platform.
  • Deliver performant remote customer access to imaging data stored on Hypervision’s platform.

Technical Leadership

  • Remain hands-on in design and implementation, contributing directly to critical components.
  • Ensure development follows best practices including design controls, requirements traceability and comprehensive testing.
  • Drive software engineering practices that support high reliability and rapid iteration.
  • Mentor engineers and help build a strong technical culture.

At Hypervision Surgical, we welcome candidates who have the core skills for the role and are keen to learn and grow with us. We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where a diverse mix of talented people come together and enjoy working with one another. By working together, we will change the way surgery is performed and improve patient care.
