About the Role:

Symmetry, part of Gusto, is seeking a strategic and operational leader to partner with the Head of Symmetry. As a critical member of the Symmetry leadership team, you will have broad autonomy to drive strategic initiatives, optimize operations, and influence key decisions to fuel Symmetry’s growth.

You'll drive Symmetry's progress by translating business insights into actionable strategies and leading key initiatives. You'll optimize operations, ensure seamless execution, and provide data-driven recommendations to guide strategic decisions and fuel growth. If you are a builder and a strategic problem-solver who thrives on driving impactful change and optimizing operations in a high-growth environment, we would love to hear from you!

About the Team:

At Gusto, the Symmetry team is on a mission to empower the world’s employees by ensuring they get the right taxes the first time. Operating like a “mini startup” within the company, Symmetry is a team driven by deep customer empathy, domain expertise, and a relentless desire to innovate. Our goal is to expand the value we create for the payroll service provider industry by solving more problems that impact over 64 million paychecks in the US each year. If you’re passionate about solving big problems, driving lean experimentation, building 0-to-1 product experiences, and making a tangible impact on the lives of millions, we’d love to have you on our team.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Strategic Partnership & Analysis: Deeply understand the business, identify challenges and opportunities, and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Program Management: Drive complex, high-priority initiatives that require collaboration across multiple teams.
  • Operational Excellence & Process Optimization: Identify and implement improvements to streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and foster a culture of operational excellence.
  • Data-Driven Decision-Making & Reporting: Analyze business metrics, KPIs, and project outcomes to provide data-driven insights and recommendations.
  • Stakeholder Management & Communication: Build strong relationships and employ effective communication to drive buy-in and ensure collaborative execution of strategic initiatives
  • Empower an Operations pod: Grow and support an operations pod (ExecOps and future insights and ops) to maximize organizational leverage and drive strategic initiatives

Here’s what we're looking for:

  • 7-10 years of experience in bizops, consulting, and/or program management, preferably in a high-growth technology startup environment OR 5+ years of experience in product management, program management, or a related field within a high-growth tech company.
  • Cross-Functional Execution: Proven ability to drive significant results through cross-functional initiatives, ensuring seamless execution and clear communication.
  • Exceptional Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build strong relationships, communicate effectively and persuasively across all levels, foster collaborative environments, and influence outcomes through compelling communication.
  • Problem-Solving & Analysis: Strong analytical and first-principles thinking, with the ability to create structure from ambiguity and drive informed decisions.
  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Proven ability to drive significant results through cross-functional initiatives, including experience in annual planning, goal setting, and ensuring seamless execution with clear communication.
  • Builder & Change Agent: A self-starter with a passion for building from the ground up, coupled with strong change management skills to drive organizational transformation.
  • Operational Acumen & Scalability: Deep understanding of program management and business operations, with a focus on building scalable solutions.
  • Experience with API-first companies and/or products is a plus
