About the Role:
We're seeking an inclusive, visionary leader to transform how talent develops and grows at Gusto. In this critical role, you'll be the architect of our learning and talent management strategy, designing programs that empower our teams to excel and evolve. You'll work closely with leadership to create innovative development approaches that not only meet current business needs but anticipate future skill requirements.

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:
- Lead and coach a high-performing L&D team, fostering an environment of inclusion and continuous learning and growth
- Design and implement comprehensive talent development strategies that align with Gusto's business objectives
- Create blended learning experiences that combine technology - including AI - and human-centered education, coaching, and experiential learning
- Facilitate leadership development programs, working directly with senior leadership
- Develop measurement frameworks to track the impact and effectiveness of L&D initiatives
- Build collaborative partnerships across People Team and business functions to drive strategic talent management
- Continuously evolve talent management approaches to support individual and collective impact as well as organizational agility
Here’s what we're looking for:
- Proven track record of developing and executing talent strategies for diverse workforces
- Advanced skills in creating blended learning approaches, with demonstrated ability to leverage technology and AI
- Deep expertise in change management
- Exceptional leadership and coaching capabilities across diverse teams and stakeholder groups
- Ability to influence and build buy-in at all organizational levels
- Candidates with the skills required typically have ~10-15 years of relevant experience in Learning & Development and/or Talent Management, including time as a leader in those functions
Compensation
Our cash compensation amount for this role is targeted at $181,000 -$215,000 /yr in Denver & most remote locations, and $212,000 - $255,000 /yr for San Francisco & New York. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience and expertise and may vary from the amounts listed above.

Gusto has physical office spaces in Denver, San Francisco, and New York City. Employees who are based in those locations will be expected to work from the office on designated days approximately 2-3 days per week (or more depending on role). The same office expectations apply to all Symmetry roles, Gusto's subsidiary, whose physical office is in Scottsdale.
Note: The San Francisco office expectations encompass both the San Francisco and San Jose metro areas.
