At Glyphic Biotechnologies, we plan to create the protein revolution for which scientists and researchers have been waiting. We are developing a massively parallel, single-molecule proteome sequencing platform that will transform life science discovery and usher in a new era of insights into human biology and disease. What we are looking for in you

Glyphic is seeking a visionary and dynamic Vice President of Platform Development to join our leadership team, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for defining and executing the development strategy of a novel single-molecule proteome sequencing platform. Prior experience developing and launching instruments or platforms in a startup environment is required.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in nucleic acid and protein biochemistry, with deep expertise in automation and instrumentation, and a proven record of leading multidisciplinary teams to develop and deploy robust production processes.

What you’ll do

Technical Development & Process Optimization:

  • These focus on hands-on execution, technology evaluation, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and rapidly evaluate emerging technologies as fit-for-purpose solutions to accelerate the development of laboratory automation, and supporting software/data pipelines.
  • Manage the weekly execution of hundreds of experimental conditions while monitoring KPIs and implementing process improvements to enhance reproducibility, quality, and scalability.
  • Develop and deploy the hardware, software, and process stack required to deliver a reliable sample-to-sequence workflow.

Strategic Leadership & Roadmap Execution:

  • Collaborate with the COO and executive leadership to define and execute a platform development roadmap that balances near-term deliverables with long-term scalability and commercialization.
  • Define and lead the New Product Introduction (NPI) lifecycle, from feasibility through validation and technology transfer, ensuring seamless translation from research breakthroughs to automated and scalable systems.
  • Recruit, mentor, and lead a multidisciplinary technology development team of chemists, molecular biologists, automation and instrumentation engineers.

What you need

Required:

  • PhD in biochemistry, chemistry, biophysics, or related field.
  • 16+ years of progressive experience in people and project management.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of nucleic acids biochemistry, bioconjugation, and related lab methods (PCR, electrophoresis, cytometry, NGS library prep, mass spectrometry, nanopore sequencing).
  • Experience developing, launching, and supporting complex commercial instruments or platforms in a startup or fast-paced environment.
  • Experience building and leading multidisciplinary teams spanning a mix of chemistry, biology, engineering, software, and operations.
  • Proven record of managing projects and accelerating product development from prototype through technology transfer.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, statistical methods, and DOE software.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with integrated microfluidic instrumentation
  • Experience developing and launching solutions in regulated environments

Compensation

Estimated Base Salary $239,000 - $296,000

This is the pay range for this position that we reasonably expect to pay. Individual compensation is based on various factors including, experience, education, skillset, and geographic location. This range is for the SF Bay Area, California location and may be adjusted to the labor market in other geographic areas.
