Marketing Communications (Marcom) is the creatively-led global team that oversees Apple’s consumer facing marketing. The Creative Services and Production (CS&P) team is made up of specialists across Creative Resource Management, Project Management and Production for print, digital and motion. The team are responsible for the planning, resourcing and management of the creative process, along with the production and delivery to the approved creative intent.

Description

The Head of CS&P leads the individuals and teams that ensure the project work is planned, resourced and executed to the highest quality within the required timeframes and budgets.

In this role, you will be accountable for the oversight and leadership of, or deeper engagement in, the categories of work and responsibilities across creative Resourcing and Capacity Management, Creative Services, Production Expertise, Financial & Production Operations Strategy, and Global Integration & Alignment.

Responsibilities

  • Be a critical partner to the Japan Creative Director in managing the creative resourcing and project workflow.
  • Lead Creative Resourcing against the Marcom project roadmap to ensure appropriate resourcing plans are in place in a timely manner, partner with either the Japan or central Creative Resource Manager, and Japan Integrated PM, to maintain proactive oversight of updates and changes
  • Collaborate with Brand & Functional Leads and Integrated Project Management to develop an overarching roadmap annually and then by quarter against which resources can be planned and allocated
  • Balance available annual/quarterly budget with the Japan creative ambitions to ensure appropriate casting of talent to the project work
  • Cultivate a network of locally based creative talent (for example but not limited to Designers, Writers, UX Design, Interactive Visual Design, Production Design
  • Collaborate with Japan CRM and International Creative Services Leads to share local creative allocations and capacity planning in order to facilitate cross-Geo support where required and beneficial
  • Lead and manage the Integrated Project Manager/Team to plan Marcom’s project roadmap for the year and by quarter to identify potential resourcing and capacity challenges ahead of time
  • Provide executive oversight of end-to-end creative workflows, empowering project management teams to optimize roadmaps, streamline localization, and mitigate high-level roadblocks
  • Provide leadership, executive oversight and prioritization guidance and triage to facilitate the delivery of NPI localization effort led by Marcom Project Management and/or agency Localization PMs
  • Represent Japan Creative Services in global conversations around process, resourcing, and tools
  • Previous experience of creative services leadership in an agency or brand creative marketing space is a hugely beneficial
  • Lead and manage the Integrated Production teams who drive the day-to-day production and delivery of both NPI localization and origination projects
  • Champion Japan original work for their respective region by directing the production/content leads responsible for high-end asset creation (CG, photography, video etc) whilst building on strategic vendor partnerships
  • Solid expertise in asset production across print production, static and motion production is a must, and ideally some experience in social film production, in order to effectively support and develop the talent within the local Production team
  • Ability to navigate a highly matrix-ed organization and manage multiple stakeholders in order to guide the production team in quickly solving budget/timeline challenges while striving to fulfill the creative ambition is essential
  • Cultivate a network of locally based creative production talent/agencies, sharing information on their capabilities and performance with global CS&P community
  • Work closely with the Ops Lead as a key partner, drive departmental efficiency by overseeing production budgets, operational forecasting, and the implementation of scalable tools and best practices across their Geos
  • Act as the senior liaison between their Japan, other Geos and Worldwide (WW) leadership, orchestrating high-level feedback loops and ensuring local best practice dovetails seamlessly align with global business objectives
  • Collaborate with WW & Central Production leadership in supporting Production and Creative Services initiatives, particularly those centered on new technologies and innovating for efficiency
  • Share local insights on pilots or new initiatives that ladder up to efficiency and quality goals with the global community
  • Ensure the appropriate Marcom/Apple governance and standards are adhered to across the Creative Services & Production disciplines

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10+ years relevant experience working in Creative Services/Production within a creative agency or in-house marketing production environment
  • A demonstrated track record of supporting a department that includes various Creative Services and/or Production functions (eg Project Management, Image Production, Motion Production) with hands-on experience of making the work
  • Experience leading and developing a team
  • Fluent in both Japanese and English

  • International travel will be required
