Description

The Battery Test Shift Lead coordinates and supports a team of test technicians to execute battery testing activities according to established schedules, procedures, and safety standards. This role requires independent judgment, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and active participation in daily test operations to ensure quality and efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and lead a shift team of test technicians covering the scheduled weekend shift.
  • Prioritize, assign, and monitor daily tasks based on test deadlines to ensure schedules and quality objectives are met.
  • Provide guidance and direction to team members in accordance with company policies, safety standards, and test protocols.
  • Interface with service technicians regarding planned and unplanned equipment events, including calibrations, repairs, and qualifications.
  • Assemble batteries into test carriers using basic hand tools and load/unload carriers from semi-automated test stations and thermal chambers and perform mechanical and electrical measurements in accordance with approved SOPs.
  • Identify and report issues related to samples, processes, equipment, or documentation to the supervisor/Test engineer.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in a team lead or supervisory role within a laboratory, manufacturing, or testing environment.
  • Experience conducting electrical and mechanical testing, including processing, analyzing, and summarizing test data.
  • Experience using electrical and mechanical laboratory measurement equipment such as gauges, volt and impedance meters, and automated test systems.
  • Ability to work in a repetitive testing environment while maintaining accuracy and safety.
  • Flexibility to adjust work days and schedules during periods of high demand.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds (approx 13.6kg).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with battery cycle life testing using Maccor or Neware test systems.
  • Experience handling lithium-ion batteries.
  • Prior safety training in laboratory or manufacturing environments.
  • Experience using torque wrenches and thickness gauges.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and decision-making capabilities.
