Job Purpose
This is a dynamic role as part of a team of engineers and scientists developing a novel intradermal biosensor technology assisting inspection of incoming materials employing Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). It is a highly influential role straddling R&D and pilot-scale production. Under the guidance and supervision of the senior scientist, the microscope technician will perform SEM analysis, optical and 3D laser scanning microscope. The microscope technician will also contribute to ongoing research, making extensive use of proper laboratory practices, including preparing solutions, running experiments, and recording data. You will have the opportunity to assist the scientific team perform experiments and collect data to validate biosensor performance.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performing the research support focused on SEM, optical microscope and 3D laser scanning microscope
- Assembling, cataloging, imaging, and preparing biosensors for evaluation by scientific team
- Preparing chemicals, reagents, buffers, and solutions to support laboratory activities
- Maintaining and ensuring laboratory instrumentation (Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), optical microscope and 3D Laser Scanning Microscope) is performing within specifications
- Other responsibilities, as required, to fulfill streamlined operation of the laboratory
Qualifications
- A.A. / A.S. or B.A / B.S. degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or a scientific or technical field
- Experience with operating in a regulated environment (i.e. design controls per 21 CFR 820.30) is preferred
- Highly methodical, organized, and detail-oriented; able to communicate results clearly to the team
- Willingness to follow stringent quality-control measures designed to improve test-to-test consistency
- Close adherence to sensor synthesis and evaluation protocols provided by the R&D team
- Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office® productivity suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
